Q & A

Getting to know Victoria Boinest, Summer Intern at Washington Wealth Advisors

Q: You are currently studying Finance at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. How would you like to apply your knowledge after you graduate?

A: I’ve always had an interest in entering the business world. My dad is a financial advisor, and his career path motivated me to major in Finance. My interest in the business world meets my passion in helping others through the job of a financial advisor. Having the opportunity to educate others on the best management tactics for their finances is something I hope to do one day, and I’m confident studying finance will help me get there.

Q: We understand that you had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy before joining us at WWA. Tell us a bit about your experience there.

A: Earlier this summer I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy for eight weeks. JMU has a fantastic study abroad program, as it allows students to live in and explore a foreign country while also having the chance to further their education. I’ve always wanted to go to Italy and being able to live there while taking classes was the best possible situation for me. Finance is a demanding major at JMU and does not allow for much flexibility, however, I was able to complete some credits while traveling Europe this summer. This gave way to one of the best and most rewarding experiences I’ve had as a college student.

Q: What do you expect to learn and contribute during your time with Washington Wealth Advisors this summer?

A: I am so excited for the opportunity to intern at a financial planning firm this summer because it is something that I am greatly considering as a future career path. I’m looking forward to seeing firsthand the daily life of a financial advisor and being able to assist in those daily responsibilities in any way that I can. I believe a career in financial advising is one that is very rewarding, as you engage with clients and educate them on the best way to manage their finances and achieve their goals. I am looking forward to adding to my foundation of experience through this internship as I move closer to entering the real-world.

Q: What are you especially looking forward to upon your return to JMU this fall?

A: As a rising junior, The College of Business at JMU allows you to begin taking classes that are more focused on your major. In my case, I can take classes much more finance oriented which is very exciting as I move further into my business education. It will also be football season when I go back, and our team is the current national champions in our division. So, it will be a very eventful and exciting football season for us all as we watch the Dukes try to defend their title. That certainly is something I am very much looking forward to! I always miss the atmosphere at James Madison when I am away, so I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of campus life this fall.
