Introducing Grace Hilyer of Nichian DesignSubmitted by Washington Wealth Advisors | Falls Church and Ashburn, VA on December 7th, 2017
Grace has been involved with graphic design almost her entire life. She began in high school working on the school newspaper, helping with the yearbook, basically getting her hands into anything that involved design.
In college, she continued to follow her passion by majoring in graphics and marketing. One of her greatest desires in life is just to be creative, in any way, and she worked hard to build a career that would fulfill that desire.
The Formation Of Nichian Design
The idea of Nichian Design was first birthed over a decade ago. For Grace, starting the business was a way to continue a career that she loved while having the flexibility to stay home with her first baby.
The name Nichian is a play on the word “niche.” A niche is an ideal position or place, function, vocation, or calling, a distinct segment of the market. She added in her son’s name, Nick, and her husband’s name, Brian, to come up with Nichian.
She had just started her new business when she was given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with an amazing group of designers. It was a fabulous job opportunity, so she decided to take it and leave Nichian Design on the back burner for the meantime. Grace has no regrets, though, because she was able to learn far more than she would have ever been able to learn on her own.
The Rebirth Of Nichian Design
Recently, now with more knowledge and experience, Grace decided to relaunch Nichian Design. With her entrepreneurial passion reignited, she worked as a part-time contractor while fine-tuning her business proposition and branding.
Now, Grace is ready to bring Nichian Design to the world. With 15 years of extensive web and graphic design experience, she knows that she has what it takes to exceed her clients’ expectations.
Nichian Design doesn’t just exist to turn a profit, it’s here to help the community. Grace purposefully focuses on small, local businesses where she can most effectively build the community. She also volunteers wherever her services are needed through volunteer.org.
Doing Something That Matters
Design is such an important part of any business or organization. The logo, website, marketing banners, etc. are the face of the business. It is what people see and what people remember and take away with them. To be a part of that and create a positive experience for consumers means the world to Grace.
She says that her personal goal for Nichian Design is to do quality work that her customers are proud to display. She recognizes that the happier her customers are, the more her business will grow and the more people she will be able to help.
Grace knows that she is lucky to be able to say that she loves her job. She loves it so much because she is constantly learning every day. Technology is always changing and she has the opportunity to always be doing something different and fun.
